What the Camera Saw: Lotus and Waterlilies

I am going to tell on myself. The past weeks have been difficult. We are mourning the loss of our Micah, he was our emotional support dog without the official vest. So on Doug’s birthday, I pleaded to get out of the house for the day. I suggested our favorite place, Longwood Gardens, thinking that it would be nice and cool in the conservatory. I am still shaking my head at myself – the conservatory is a ginormous greenhouse, it was beyond toasty. The logic part of my brain was not connecting the dots. There was nothing for it but to enjoy the day, broiling heat and all. We had a lovely day, once we get behind the cameras it is easy to forget the heat. We stayed until night fall to watch the night-blooming water lilies open up and create their own magic. This is what the camera saw.

Day Blooming Water Lilies. Just magical!

I had never seen a real lotus flower or their buds. They are ethereal.

The lily ponds were serene and still, yet bursting with color and life.

It was stifling hot, but it did us a world of good to get out of the house and surround ourselves with beauty. Even a few hours can restore a soul and bring fresh perspective.

Wishing you some soul restoring hours of peace.
Love, Terri

Stunning. Otherworldly. So beautiful. I’m glad you both got out and surrounded yourselves with beauty. I’m terribly worry about dear Micah.

Thank you so much Dana! Beauty soothes the soul. And thank you about Micah, I did not realize how many tasks he was assigned in the household. He was a full working part of the machinery.

Teri: I am so sorry for your loss. It is amazing what a little bit of fresh air and beauty can do for the soul.

Thank you Kelly. I have forgotten so many little things this week. I missed a yoga class, forgot some important banking – and I don’t forget stuff. I am so out of balance without Micah. I had no idea the impact that he had on my life and on our lives. He gave us so much unconditional love and support, and was always there for us. Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to write and visit. And yes, getting fresh air and beauty makes a world of difference. Wishing you and your house much peace.

Wonderful photos! Loved the one of your fellow photographer. Maybe you need a stealth mode for your shutter?! Mine is sooo loud!

Thank you Mithra for the gift of your time to visit! Yes, a stealth mode would be most beneficial – although, the man has eyes in the back of his head! I hope you are having a good summer!
